The Bread and Chocolate Story

It all started when...

a young couple drove their vegetable oil powered school bus from the U.S.A. through Central America and settled in the small Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca.  They started Bread and Chocolate with the idea of creating a creative menu of fresh baked goods, high quality chocolate desserts and home-made breakfasts and sandwiches.  Two years after starting their creation they decided to return to the States and sold the business to, then cook, Tom Franklin.  

Over the past decade, Tom has gone on to take their creation and grow it into the business it is today.  He continues to take great care in every item that comes out of the kitchen.  The menu has grown but the commitment to make in-house products and to use local ingredients whenever possible is still the same.  Most of his staff has been working here for years which helps to maintain the consistent quality of the food.  This has led to the success that it has to this day.  It is the perfect place to start your morning or satisfy your sweet-tooth!

Todo Comenzó cuando...

Una joven pareja condujo su autobús escolar, alimentado con aceite vegetal, desde los Estados Unidos a través de América Central, estableciéndose en el pequeño pueblo caribeño de Puerto Viejo de Talamanca.  Comenzaron Bread and Chocolate con la idea de crear un menú creativo de productos recién horneados, postres de chocolate de alta calidad, desayunos y sandwiches caseros. Dos años después de la creación de Bread and Chocolate, la pareja decidió regresar a su país y vender el negocio, al por entonces cocinero, Tom Franklin.  

Durante la última década, Tom ha llevado el negocio hasta convertirlo en lo que hoy es. Él continúa teniendo una especial atención y cuidado, en cada producto que sale de la cocina. El menú ha crecido, pero el compromiso de hacer productos caseros, y de utilizar ingredientes locales, siempre que sea posible, sigue vigente.  La mayoría del personal que trabaja en el restaurante, ha trabajado aquí, durante años, lo que ayuda a mantener una calidad constante en la comida. Esto es lo que nos ha permitido llegar al éxito y mantenernos hasta el día de hoy.  Este es el lugar perfecto para comenzar tu mañana o para satisfacer tu amor por los chocolates.
